Review: Wm Hamblin argues that Josiah's reforms were positive and consistent with gospel principles; Kevin Christensen writes the second essay that takes the POV of Margaret Barker that Josiah's reforms removed the Tree/Queen/Asherah from the temple and lost much of the temple. Christensen cites Book of Mormon sources such as: Lehi's vision of the Tree of Life, Jacob and Nephi's commentary on the Jews looking beyond the mark (anointing and Anointed), and contemporary biblical history.
In my biased view, Christensen won the debate because the version is much more exciting and explains the apostasy in Jerusalem that prompted Lehi's departure as the Jews were trying to kill him as he preached Christ. I would like Christensen to expand the article into a book to show that Sherem (Jacob 7) was making the "Jews' case and how the forbidden teachings of Lehi and Jeremiah centered on the Anointed. Still, Hamblin's Josiah will be continued to be taught in sunday school.

Review: Though I enjoyed brother Hamblin's essay, I must say that I agree with Kevin Christensen's work more. Having reviewed a lot of his sources myself in the past I agree with his findings and loved the way in which he brought it all together here. Magnificent.
